about

Blake Panter doesn't handle transitions very well. After the buzzed about Denton duo Novaak broke apart in the atmosphere shortly after lift-off last Spring, Panter disappeared from the DFW music scene in order to gather scattered emotional debris and wonder what was supposed to be next.

First, he tried getting into writing and producing for advertisements and film using his newly formed publishing company and leftover demos. Then he pondered forming a real band with equal partners. Then he gave up it all up for awhile. Then he realized he had made "I Am, You Are" entirely in the corner of his bedroom, why couldn't he just make more music?

After finally giving up cringing at the sound of his own voice, and realizing you can cover literally anything with reverb, the steps were taken on a first song.

"Go On," which opens with the sound of an upright piano's mute startlingly lifting, gives way to a ticking pluck pattern eerily reminiscent of a ticking clock. Then suddenly, piano, strings, and a light dancing guitar lead gently lead into the next movements, only by the end of the song to violently melt and burn out in a cacophony.

It tells a musical story, and leaves room for anything to follow.

LYRICS:

Fluttering blinks, a yawn, the light, the morning eyes
Fiery mind, and icy legs to moan
Stutter step your dreams away and don't call home
Mom and dad were lost and so are you

I wish that I was unafraid
Just a boy, it was yesterday
Go on, go on, go on, go on

We're all swaying, swaying back and forth

I've been making mistakes since January 1
Sleeping in my clothes, and in my bare toes
I'm a selfish one

Left a note, scared of what I spoke
Put on my coat in light of what had broke
Got eyes and ears and oh don't we know it

I wish that I was unafraid
Just a boy, it was yesterday
Go on, go on, go on, go on

Love swelters like a burning tongue
Unfurl the yarn of been said is done
Go on, go on, go on, go on

We're all swaying, swaying back and forth
